Stepper Motor Control
Motors · Board: ESP32 · Day 39 of 100
Drive a NEMA 17 stepper through an A4988 driver with the ESP32. Precise rotation for CNC, 3D printers, and robotics.

How it works
Each STEP pulse from the ESP32 advances the motor one microstep while the DIR pin sets direction, and the A4988 driver translates those logic signals into sequenced coil currents for the NEMA 17. Speed comes from pulse frequency, precision from the driver's microstepping.
What you'll learn
- STEP/DIR signaling
- Microstepping concept
- Stepper driver current limiting
- Precision motion control
