Soil Moisture Detector
Sensors · Board: ESP8266 · Day 28 of 100
An ESP8266 reads a soil sensor and reports dry or wet conditions. The sensing core of every smart-garden project.

How it works
Two probes in the soil form a variable resistor whose value changes with water content. The ESP8266 reads it as an analog voltage and classifies the result as dry or wet against a threshold you calibrate for your own soil. It is the sensing core every automated garden builds on.
What you'll learn
- Resistive soil sensing
- Wet/dry calibration
- Probe corrosion awareness
- Threshold classification
