Email a daily AI news brief and build slide decks from tabs
Comet searches the day's AI news, picks the top 5 stories and emails a brief, and merges tagged tabs and reports into a cited Google Slides deck.
- What They Did
- In Comet, Perplexity's AI browser, the author asked it to search the day's AI news across major outlets, pick the top 5 stories and email a brief. This can be saved as a shortcut or a recurring task. For decks, she tagged open tabs, articles and reports and asked Comet to merge them into a Google Slides presentation with headings, citations and an executive summary.
- How It Went
- The email brief was actually sent, which plain chatbots can't do. The slide deck was not great design-wise, but it covered part of the work. The source gives no timings or counts.
- Worth Knowing
- Keep prompts short and focused. Long multi-step requests often stop partway through, and Comet can be slower than doing the task by hand.
Try it yourself with Perplexity Comet
Every morning, search for the latest news on [topic, e.g. AI], pick the top 5 stories, and write a short brief with a two-sentence summary and source link for each. Show me the draft email before sending it to [my email address]. Then, once I confirm, send it.
