SE Ranking tested Operator on pulling SERP results, backlink checks and outreach email management; it was slow and error-prone, so they did not recommend it for complex SEO work.
- What They Did
- SE Ranking gave ChatGPT Operator prompts in four areas: competitor analysis, SERP monitoring, keyword research, and link building. It had to pull top-10 Google and Bing results into a Google Sheet, check a sheet of referring pages for backlinks to seranking.com, and draft replies to unread link-building emails in Gmail. For the SE Ranking tool tasks, the team supplied their own login credentials.
- How It Went
- Simple SERP pulls and outreach drafting worked best. Competitor research was abandoned partway, keyword research covered one keyword at a time, and the backlink check wrongly marked some pages as having links.
- Worth Knowing
- It needed constant babysitting, couldn't get into Reddit, and ran on a $200/month subscription, so check every output by hand.
