Find holiday gifts and check stock and sales

A writer used the Gemini app and its agentic feature to find gift ideas and retailers and check stock and sales, noting some features weren't fully ready.

What They Did

Lance Whitney tried Google's holiday shopping tools. In the Gemini iPhone app he asked for Doctor Who gift ideas and places to buy them. He also searched for an iPad Air, then used a product card to set a price alert, with an optional automatic purchase at his target price. The store-calling "Let Google Call" option wasn't available to him.

How It Went

Gemini suggested clothing, kitchenware, collectibles, media and games, with retailer links. The price alert was easy to set up, but the price hadn't dropped, so it went untested. The calling feature was inaccessible, and he found some results underwhelming.

Worth Knowing

Several features were still rolling out, so availability varies. He could not test the stock-and-sales calling feature at all.
