Build an Instacart grocery cart from a chat request
A reporter connected Instacart to ChatGPT, which assembled the cart for formula, ice cream and fruit and opened a checkout confirmation in chat.
- What They Did
- The reporter connected an Instacart account through ChatGPT's app list, then asked for infant formula, a small container of vanilla ice cream and some fruit for delivery. ChatGPT suggested products and put options in the cart without much discussion. When the reporter said to check out, a window opened in the chat confirming the order, payment method and delivery address.
- How It Went
- ChatGPT built the cart quickly and kept checkout inside the chat. The same list in Claude produced very similar products, but Claude only gave a link to finish the purchase in Instacart's site.
- Worth Knowing
- The test used a deliberately simple three-item list and did not compare prices or delivery times. Specific requests would probably matter more for getting the items you want.
